Audio booksWhat do you do if you are too tired to sit down with a book and read, but at the same time you are tempted to read a novel or book? You ask someone close to you to read out the book. There is another way too which is to visit any of the sites below which provide free audio books in podcast format.

The following are a couple of sites which provide audio books to download and read at ones leasure for free…

  1. Gutenberg Audio Books Project - Project Gutenberg makes audio eBooks available for some of the same great literature available in plain text. Their listings are divided into two categories: Human-read and computer-generated audio books. This site contain a large number of audio books on a wide range of topics from children’s books to those for adults; fiction and non-fiction.
  2. LibriVox - The goal of Librivox is to record all the books in the public domain and make them available in an audio format as a free download. There are several options for listening. The first step is to get the mp3 or ogg files into your own computer. Librivox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain and publish the audio files on the internet.
  3. Literal Systems - This is another site which provides audio books free of cost. Its catalog contain such classics as “The tale of two cities by Charles Dickens”. All the books are published under a Creative Commons license.
  4. Audio Books For Free - This is another excellent site which provides hundreds of audio books free for download.
